Musings on presentations

Last month I went to England for my uncle´s funeral service. My cousin’s speech in the church was masterful. He started off by saying: “You might think that Tommy led an uneventful life: he lived in the same town all his life, he had the same job all his life, he was married to the same woman and lived in the same house all his life. Far from it. He….”

And then the speech went on to describe different, fascinating events in Tommy’s life, getting better and better, all the while refuting the argument.

Presentations that address the audience’s qualms, misgivings, questions, objections – and satisfy or rebut them – convince.
